Dr. Ashley Roxanne also known as “ Dr. Rox” is a young Family Medicine, resident physician looking to make an impact in media medicine. She grew up as a military kid, her dad being in the Marine Corps for 23 years, which prompted her family to move 8 times as a child. She considers herself a Southern lady with her dad being “Alabama and her momma Louisiana”. She went to UNC Charlotte where she majored in Medical Anthropology and she then went to an Osteopathic Medical School in GA. Now you can find her in her first year of Family Medicine training at Morehouse School of Medicine. She also blogs at www.drashleyroxanne.com and has founded a woman’s workwear business called “Laborai” at www.shoplaborai.com. Most recently, she has expanded her “media and medicine” brand to include a podcast series called “Real Medicine with Dr Rox” that talks about some of the tougher aspects of medicine such as burn out, balancing family life, being a minority in medicine, and more “taboo topics”. Her instagram @drashleyroxanne is where she shares more about her journey towards helping the underserved and everyday people take control of their health through the power of media medicine.
